From a Result to the Evidence
A search result is a real detection with a real time and place attached, so it is a starting point rather than an answer. This page covers the moves from a promising thumbnail to something you can act on.
Look properly before deciding
A results grid shows crops, which are good for scanning and poor for judging. Two options open the image up:
| Option | What it shows |
|---|---|
| View full-size image | The detection at full resolution |
| View full frame | The whole camera frame, not just the crop |
View full frame is the more useful of the two. The crop shows you the person; the frame shows you what was around them — who they were with, which direction they were heading, what they were carrying. That context is usually what turns a maybe into a yes.
Get to the cameras
View associated cameras opens the cameras covering that location. From there you have the whole recording rather than the instant the detection captured, which is where you establish what actually happened.
Live and recorded playback require the desktop client; in a browser, cameras appear as refreshing stills. See Using eConnect in a Browser.

Find the same person elsewhere
Search for visually similar images takes a detection you have found and looks for others like it. This is how you turn one sighting into a movement pattern — the same jacket at three entrances over an hour tells you a great deal more than any single detection does.
It works without the person being enrolled, which is the point: you can track an unknown individual through your property from a single frame.
Establish identity
Semantic Search finds people by appearance, not identity. When you need to know who, take the image to Face Search, which matches against your enrolled subjects — or attach it to Ace and ask it to run the same search.
The usual sequence is: describe, find candidates, pick the best image, then identify.
Keep the thread
Everything you drill into is being collected in your Workspace as you go. Pin the detections that matter so the enquiry survives the end of your shift, and share it if somebody else is picking it up.
Make it a record
When the enquiry becomes an incident, gather it into a case — the place where media, notes and activity belong together and can be exported as one package.
