Keyboard Shortcuts
eConnect leans on standard platform shortcuts rather than a large set of its own, so most of what you already know works.
Standard editing and navigation
| Action | Shortcut |
|---|---|
| Copy | Ctrl + C |
| Paste | Ctrl + V |
| Cut | Ctrl + X |
| Undo | Ctrl + Z |
| Select all | Ctrl + A |
| Move between fields | Tab / Shift + Tab |
| Activate the focused control | Enter or Space |
| Close a dialog | Esc |
Esc closes most dialogs. One deliberate exception: the session timeout warning cannot be
dismissed with Esc or by clicking behind it, because a warning you can wave away without reading is
no warning. See
Session Timeout and Signing Out.
In the browser
The browser client adds the browser's own shortcuts:
| Action | Shortcut |
|---|---|
| Back / forward | Alt + ← / Alt + → |
| Reload | F5 or Ctrl + R |
| Zoom in / out | Ctrl + + / Ctrl + - |
| Reset zoom | Ctrl + 0 |
| Full screen | F11 |
Zoom is genuinely useful on a wall display: enlarging a dashboard so it reads from across the room takes one keystroke.
Installed as an app, eConnect also gets back and forward controls in its own window rather than relying on browser chrome. See Using eConnect in a Browser.
Grids
| Action | How |
|---|---|
| Sort by a column | Select the heading; select again to reverse |
| Move through rows | Arrow keys, where the grid has focus |
| Open the selected row | Enter |

Faster than any shortcut
Three things that save more time than keyboard navigation:
- Settings search. Type what a setting does rather than hunting through tiles. See The Settings Area.
- Ace. Asking a question is usually faster than navigating to the view that answers it, and it can navigate for you. See Ace.
- Home tiles. Shortcuts straight into a module's views, two levels deep in one click. See Home and Tiles.
Accessibility
Dialogs are announced to screen readers and are keyboard-navigable. Colour is never the only carrier of meaning — alert severity, status and chart series are all labelled as well as coloured. See Themes and Appearance.
