Genetec Licensing

eConnect connects to Genetec Security Center using Genetec SDK licenses, which you order from your Genetec partner or integrator. Two SKUs are involved, and they cover different things:

• GSC-1SDK-ECONNECT-PLATFORM covers the eConnect deep integration inside Genetec: the Face Recognition page and the data overlay tile in Security Desk, and the eConnect setup page in Config Tool. You need 2 per Security Desk user, plus 1 per tech in Config Tool.
• GSC-1SDK-ECONNECT-VIDEO covers Genetec video played inside the eConnect Core application. You need 1 per user streaming video, plus 1 for eConnect Core Server.

If you only use the integration inside Genetec and never view Genetec video in eConnect Core, you only need the Platform SKU.

Floating licenses: size for your busiest moment

Both SKUs are floating licenses. A license is taken from the pool when someone opens the eConnect tools in Genetec, or starts streaming Genetec video in eConnect Core, and returned when they close it.

That means you count the most people using each feature at the same time, not the number of workstations installed. Oversubscribing is normal: a site with 20 Security Desk workstations where no more than 8 operators use eConnect at once needs 16 Platform licenses, not 40. If a pool runs out, the next user sees a "No available licenses" message until someone else closes eConnect.

• Security Desk users hold 2 Platform licenses while eConnect is open (the Face Recognition page and the data overlay tile). An operator who only watches the overlay and never searches faces or manages face tags may hold just 1, but plan for 2.
• Techs in Config Tool hold 1 Platform license while they are on the eConnect setup page. If your team manages eConnect from Config Tool often, add one or two.
• eConnect Core video viewers hold 1 Video license each while streaming, plus 1 for eConnect Core Server. That is one per site, even if you run several Core servers.
